Health experts have shared their top tips for getting more energy. Try a few or try them all, and you’ll likely start feeling more awake and ready to go.

Eat More Magnesium-Rich Foods

If you’re eating well but still feeling sluggish, you might not have enough magnesium. This mineral is really important for tons of reactions in our body, including making energy from glucose.

A study found that women with not enough magnesium needed more effort to do physical tasks. They felt more tired because their bodies had to work harder. 

Women should aim for about 300 milligrams of magnesium a day, and men should aim for about 350 milligrams.

To get more magnesium, you can:

  • Snack on almonds, hazelnuts, or cashews.
  • Eat more whole grains, like bran cereal.
  • Include more fish in your diet, like halibut.

Take Short Walks

It might sound odd, but when you’re feeling tired, moving more can actually make you feel more energized. Walking is a great way to get moving because it’s easy and you can do it anywhere.

Research has shown that a quick 10-minute walk can boost your energy for up to 2 hours. And if you keep it up for 3 weeks, you’ll likely feel generally more energetic and in a better mood.
