Deborah Szekely has just celebrated her 102nd birthday, but she isn’t spending her days in quiet retirement.
Instead, Szekely continues to work three days a week at the fitness resort and spa she helped found in 1940. She stays socially engaged, often meeting friends and speaking at public events.
“When I turned 100, I didn’t feel any different, so I decided to keep living my life as always,” she told CNBC Make It.
Szekely attributes her longevity and energy to three daily habits she has maintained over the years.

Szekely makes sure to walk a mile every day. “I only allow myself an afternoon nap if I’ve finished my daily walk. It’s not about being strict; it’s just part of what I do every day,” she explains.
She also highlights the value of having active friends to keep her motivated. “One of my walking partners is a Catholic nun who enjoys walking just as much as I do,” Szekely notes.
